A Braggadocious Pause

One the hardest things for me to overcome when I started this blog was the fact that I loathe talking about myself and I do not toot my own horn very well.  Tonight, I am going to  overcome that little character flaw to share a photograph that was sent to me by a very nice lady who is loom beading one of my tapestry patterns.  She is actually beading more than one but, she sent me a photo of the one in progress.  I am so thrilled.  I can't wait to see it finished.  Also, I wonder why my desk never looks this tidy???

Braided Brick Stitch Bracelet in Black and Ghost Grey Luster

As much as I would love to delve into Kate McKinnon's Contemporary Geometric Beading, I need to take a deep breath.  I need to start another project because it is intended to be part of a Christmas gift along with a yet to be crocheted shawl and a yet to be framed photograph.

I'm going to start on this brick stitch beaded bracelet.  It is shaped and there will be spaces in it.

I have completed the first row, starting at the bottom.  Let's see if I can stay on task long enough to get at least one zig completed today.

I didn't get very far today.  I was tired after four days of gardening and could not concentrate very well.  I chose instead to watch Forrest Gump.  This is my effort so far.  I am beading the gaps as I go rather than beading each braid separately and joining them at a solid row.  This is new for me and so far, it's ok.  I think I'll get the hang of it.

Day 2.  Again, I didn't get very far.  I hope to spend more time on this project soon.

Free Brick Stitch Earring Pattern

I find Brick Stitch to be so easy.  With this pattern, start at the second row from the bottom and work your way up.  At the top your needle will have come out of the top of one of the end beads.  Add 5 beads and take your needle down through the opposite end bead creating a loop (to attach to your earring finding.  Run your thread down through the beads until you come out of one of the two beads at the bottom, add a single bead and thread your needle up through the other bead.  This creates the single bead point at the bottom.  Thread your beading thread up through as many rows as you feel comfortable and cut.

And here is your free pattern to try this technique.  Click on the graphic to start your download.  Have fun with it, change the colours if you like.  I'm confidant you will enjoy this as much as I do.

Berry Squares Free Loom or Square Stitch Pattern

Did you know that Loom patterns and Square Stitch patterns are the same?  That's is a handy bit of information, isn't it?  Now you can go looking for free patterns of either stitch.

Today's featured pattern is another simple pattern that will be easy to replace colours.  I have done this bracelet in black with white and blue squares.  It's actually a lot more attractive than you would think.  I would share a photo but, I gifted the bracelet without photographing it.  Silly me.

Brick Stitch Bird Earrings

Here's the deal with my earring patterns.  Start on the second row up from the bottom.  Once you have beaded the earring to the top and added a loop, you will run your thread down to the bottom, add a single bead and then weave in your thread.  The bottom bead can be any colour you choose.

The loop at the top where you attach your earring hook is simple.  When you have added the final bead, the third in the row, your thread is coming up from that bead.  Add 5 beads of the same colour, run your needle down into the first bead in the row and continue threading toward the bottom where you will add your final single bead.

As always, Click on the image to get the free pattern.
